Yes, an allotment, contact your local council, but hurry if you’re in East London because a lot of them are being ploughed up for the Olympic stadium.

A tub, on your deck, in a sunny window. I saw an idea at a research farm once, they took guttering and capped it off at both ends, made holes in it for draining, filled it with soil and planted lettuces and radishes in it and hung it from chains. (not indoors tho) I have heard of growing potatoes , also tomatoes, in a trash bag on a fire escape in New York. Just open the up, make a couple of holes for drainage, put about a foot of soil in there so they will stand up, plant your potatoes, and as they grow. add some more soil until they are nearly full, and when your potatoes mature you will have a whole trash bag full of potatoes. Keep them watered, but not wet.
