I’m Wanting To Grow Vegetables, Have No Idea About Mushrooms, Can You Help?

There is an easier way of growing mushrooms. You can buy kits ,with compost and spores ready done in a box, then just follow instructions as to where to place it and watering.I’ve tried this its easy and fascinating watching them grow.I got 3 crops.
Also you can buy plugs of mushroom spores impregnated into a plug of wood, which you ‘plug’ into a log or piece of wood and leave outside to grow.I’ve just bought some from a seed company online. It came with full instructions but I’ve yet to ‘plug’ them
I’ve found this website to help youhttp://www.letsgogardening.co.uk/Informa…
Sorry about all the ‘plug’ words!!!

Groaaan! Some of the answers…
Seriously, you can buy mushroom ‘farms’. A box of dirt with mushroom spores that you put under your sink and water. Eventually, if you remember to water it, you get a few mushrooms.
You can buy them here:http://www.mushroomadventures.com/kits.h…
When I was a child, my sister loved mushrooms. One year we gave her a mushroom farm for Christmas, but took out the instructions. She opened the box and it was just dirt in there. The expression on her face was pretty funny!
You could try planting the spores in a yogart tub but there would not be mush room inside!
well, if i were u, i would read the book “how to grow mushrooms” By I. M. anidiot.
I saw a show on how they grow mushrooms (it was on Mike Rowe’s Dirty Jobs – it’s not fun).
First, you need to get some horse manure and pile it up into large mounds. Then you apply some kind of powder – I think it was lime – that starts breaking down the bacteria in the poo. This sits for a few weeks and eventually starts steaming (it’s an exothermic reaction – it generates heat). And, it really reeks. At some point, it’s ready to grow mushrooms.
Mushroom have to be temperature and humidity controlled. Mushroom farms plant the spores in the poo on large trays that are kept in special storage containers. Then, after a certain amount of time, the mushrooms are ready for harvest.
I think you’re better off just getting mushrooms at the store.
from what i can make out it is very hard to do on your own but you can buy the boxes to grow in Woolworth’s , Wilkinson’s and places like that but i think you just get one crop i keep meaning to have go but haven’t tried it yet good luck
Scrap that idea unless you have a cave handy.

Mushrooms are not a vegetable, they are fungi.
Mushroom cultivation is really quite simple you just have to be persistant, due to the fact that you will have a learning curve, it is best to seek out others whom already have experience. you will definately screw up a couple times so if your a quitter no since starting
