I have a south facing , fair sized garden and want to grow a mixture of vegetables

    It will depend on where you live. The zone. Go to your nursery and they can give you all the tips for your area. Some veggies are really easy to grow like tomatoes or carrots. Others need some coaxing along.
    Also research to see when you can plant early veggies next spring so you can be ready. Lettuce and early peas are so good to have. Then you can plant them again in late summer. Some veggies will last long into fall, like cabbage.
