My favorites to grow are Basil, Chives, Parsley and Thyme because those are the ones I use in cooking the most. I use a good grade potting soil and make sure they have good drainage in the pot (I have limited space so I plant them all in one pot). Keep them watered well but not over watered and make sure they get enough sun. I am not going to comment on the Oregano since this summer was the first I tried to grow that in my herb garden outside and the jury is still out on how it is going to do over the long run. It is sure fun to be able to grab a few fresh herbs to throw in a pot during the dreary winter months. Good luck.

don’t over water the herbs, that could be your trouble. only water them every 2 days or once a week.

TRY BASIL AND TRY NOT TO OVERWATER. ALSO GET NEW PARSLEY AND OREGANO PLANTS. MOST LIKELY THE PLANTS ARE NOT IN GOOD SHAPE. YOU CAN KEEP THEM ON THE WINDOWSILL OR COUNTER FOR USE WHEN NEEDED. REMEMBER TO WASH THEM FIRST BEFORE USING.

Rosemary makes a wonderful house plant, keep it in a sunny window and never let it dry out or it will die (don’t overwater, either, just keep the soil slightly moist, maybe water good once or twice a week and let the pot drain. Chives, parsley (buy the plants, don’t try the seeds, they have to, as the old saying goes, go to hell and back twice before they will germinate). Thyme is good in a pot, again buy the plant, Bay, in a sunny window with lots of top light and minimal water until February, mint (try this in water instead of putting it in a pot), basil (comes good from seed) grows well indoors. All of these need good sun, but be careful about hot afternoon sun on basil babies. When they grow up they need all the sun you can get. You can try sage in a pot, it will probably do fine. Good luck with your crop!
