Would A Bonsai Fruit Tree Grow Small Fruit?

Posted by admin on January 24, 2010

I’ve been pondering this for some time now. If one was to grow a bonsai apple tree for example, would it grow tiny apples? If so, would any fruit bearing plant do the same?

    Hi,
It is very much possible to have a fruit bearing bonsai tree. The most popular ones being Bonsai Grapes, Olives etc.
It is actually a magnificent site to see such small trees bearing edible fruits right inside your own living rooms.
All you need is some patience and knowledge on growing bonsai trees and voila , you could have your own grape vine in your house.
    Enjoy the art of bonsai.

i think you can’t make a bonsai out of a fruit bearing tree, but if marcotted fruit bearing trees will bear normal size fruits. none fruit bearing trees or shrubs are usually used for bonsai.
Bonsai trees are normally prun to its desired size and height to keep its bonsai look and definitely no chance for fruiting or the like.

There are lots of “dwarf” fruit fruit trees, but often hard to find. Miniature persimmon comes to mind, and makes a great bonsai..
AND YES, you CAN do fruit trees, but any fruit will remain large as usual, so you would not let much of it mature.
The flowers should be gorgeous, however.
