Why Does A Healthy Tomatoe Plant Not Grow Taller, But Start Getting Fruit? It Is Not A Bush Type.?

Posted by admin on February 18, 2010

I have a Chef Jeff’s Tomatoe Jolly plant that has remained 2 – 3 inches tall, but is blossoming and getting tomatoes, why is it not growing taller and is there anything that I can do to help it? It will not be able to support the fruit it is getting.

If it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it’s a duck. You have described a bush type. You don’t give enough information to determine why this is happening. Is it a potted plant? What kind of soil is it growing in? What are you feeding it? Then there’s the possibility that you have a mutation. Feed it with a time release fertilizer, the kind that is pelleted. That is about all that you can do for it, all things considered.

i would guess it has been colder where u are giving the plant less time to grow, starting it’s flowering earlier but not definite
