Why Do Bananas Grow Upward And All Other Fruit Grows Downward?

Posted by admin on February 22, 2010

christnp is right, they are berries, “false berries”. Other
examples of false berries are, pumpkins, watermelon,
squash, & blueberries. I think the reason they grow up
is since the leaves are so big, and they grow in tropical
areas, lot of rainfall & cloud cover, the flower grows up
reaching for what sunlight it can get.

the branch holding all those bananas grows downwards as per the rule of gravity, and the banans grow sideways just to get some room.

Technically, bananas are a berry. Lots of types of berries grow atop the flower rather than hanging down on a stem.
