I’m planting an avocado tree, what about fruit trees?

   Lemons and figs will grow for sure. My father-in-law grew both in Metairie. Pears should also grow but may be a bit more of a bother to be successful. Oranges and satsumas can also be grown but few people do it.
   If you live across the lake then it gets a bit colder in the winter and citrus trees need winter protection.
