(uk) What Fruit/veg Can I Grow Now My Summer Plants Have Finished?
Posted by admin on February 4, 2010
Ive been growing a lot of fruit/veg over the summer, its my first year of growing things, just wondered if theres anything that will grow in the autumn/winter months.
I dont have a greenhouse.

I’m in the U.S. (western New York state), so I’m not sure about the climate difference this time of year, but here I could plant almost any kind of leafy greens (lettuces, spinach, collards, etc.) and have a good crop before winter starts creeping in. Also, you can always grow herbs inside during the winter, and I’ve heard of people keeping tomato plants inside during the winter, but I’ve never tried it.
Things like cabbages, broccoli, leeks are coming through at this time of year – but you needed to get them started earlier in the year. For next year though maybe?
Still – you should still be able to get lettuce & radishes to germinate & grow.
Don’t forget to bring cuttings of your favourite herbs inside too so you can have fresh herbs throughout the winter!
You can plant Broad beans in Nov and You can plant herbs whenever.
leeks, winter cabbage, winter veg .There is a lot you can grow ,hardy plants they are called.
Kale is a good one to plant this time of year.
Spinach is a good fall crop. It germinates quickly and likes cool weather.
