Is There Is A Term For The Right To Pick Fruit That Grows In Public Spaces?

Someone told my wife that it is legal to pick fruit in any public space and mentioned that the legal term was something like “usefruchta” or something similar. She said the term was derived from a german term.

   Hmm, I would have thought it was “property of pulic domain“ and it`s open to whomever wants or needs the fruit. I`ll check back to see what this term is…thanks.
