How Fast Does Dragon Fruit Cactus Grow Indoors?

Posted by admin on January 24, 2010

I’m planning on getting a dragon fruit cactus and growing it indoors where there is little light and the temperature is around 70degrees. I want to know how fast this type of plant can grow.
Can it also grow up the painted wall of a house or does it have to be a rough surface?

I have a Dragon Fruit that has about 25 feet of branching. I have mine in a glass green house, and it gets around 100 degrees in there on sunny days.
Dragon Fruit grows well in Hawaii, average temperature 82 degrees, and I think it’s originally from even warmer south America. I think your plant will need more heat, and much more sun to grow, set fruit , and thrive. Maybe consider a heat mat under the pot, and a grow light. It might be best to give it some support with a trellis.
Mine doesn’t grow all that fast, but is putting on several new branches this month.
