A Cooking Garden – Why Have One?
Posted by admin on September 3, 2008
There is nothing like going to your own garden and selecting the fruits, vegetables and herbs you want to use in your meal. Cooking garden produce that you have grown is very satisfying, and tastes much better than what you can buy in the store.
Even if you have never grown anything before, you can learn to plan and care for your own garden, and it can take as much or as little space as you desire to use. Some people grow their own gardens as a hobby, while others have found they can save money by growing their own food. If you’re creative, you can also design your garden to supplement the appeal and atmosphere of your yard.
So often today we purchase fruits and vegetables from the store that have been harvested too early and they never have the flavor on our table that they could have. One of the benefits of having your own supply is that you can wait to pick your fruits and vegetables at the perfect time, and food that fully ripens before it is picked is the best tasting.
Think about what your favorite fruits and vegetables are, and imagine having the ability to eat them when you want, and they’re as fresh as you can get. Need an onion? Go to the garden. Need tomatoes? Go to the garden. You can’t beat your own garden for freshness and flavor.
Don’t worry about not knowing how to grow anything. If you have the desire you can learn. You too can enjoy the journey of having fresh flavorful food that you produce season after season. What do you want to grow? If you have been as disappointed as I have been in recent years with the produce section of most grocery stores, you can get the guide you see here on this blog and start your own cooking garden today.
